MADINAH — A group of Arab pickpockets who robbed Umrah performers and pilgrims of their possessions were nabbed by Madinah police following several theft reports. Madinah police spokesman Col. Fahd Al-Ghanam said the leader of the gang was arrested Thursday evening near the Prophet's Mosque. “The gang members stole money, jewelry and cell phones inside the Prophet's Mosque,” said Col. Al-Ghanam. The gang leader confessed that he had come to the Kingdom not to perform Umrah but to rob Umrah performers of their money. Police were able to return the stolen items to their rightful owners. All gang members were referred to the prosecution.
