MAKKAH — Undercover officers arrested two suspected pickpockets outside the Grand Mosque in Makkah. The men, of African origin, allegedly took advantage of the huge crowds in the holy city to steal from Umrah performers and visitors to the mosque. Lt. Col. Abdul Mohsin Al-Maiman, spokesman for Makkah police, said the two thieves were caught red-handed while trying to rob three visitors out of their possessions. Police found SR20,000 in their possession. The money was returned to its rightful owners and the pickpockets were detained at Ajyad police station for questioning. They will be referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution following investigations.
