RIYADH — Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah has ordered the closure of two pharmacies belonging to a well-known medical company in Riyadh for 60 days each for violating regulations and working with an expired license. Also, the owner of the two pharmacies was also fined SR100,000. A special committee from Riyadh Health Affairs has started implementing the decision immediately. The pharmacists working in the two pharmacies have been referred to the health practitioners committee for further sanctions after they were found to have violated the regulations for pharmaceutical firms as well as working with an expired license. The owner was also penalized for allowing pharmacists to work before they obtained a license for practicing the profession. A committee from Riyadh Health Affairs passed by the two pharmacies and noticed the violations. The penalties for the violations were issued according to regulations governing private health institutions and their bylaws. The final verdict will be publicized in three local newspapers. — SG/SPA
