RIYADH — Police patrols here apprehended a car thief only minutes after he stole a car containing a large amount of money inside. A police unit on routine patrol was flagged down by a citizen who said he had stopped his car in front of a restaurant and left the engine running. As he was exiting the restaurant, he saw a man enter the vehicle and drive away. The Saudi said he had SR30,000 in cash inside the vehicle. The description of the car and the thief was circulated to all nearby units and minutes later the stolen car was spotted. When a patrol unit attempted to pull the car over, the thief stopped and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly detained.
