Ashraf Abdul Wahab TRIPOLI – A Tunisian appeal court has released a Gaddafi-era law officer arrested on suspicion of embezzlement, after an Interpol warrant for her arrest was issued at the request of Libyan prosecutor's office. Widad Al-Hamani was detained a month ago in Tunisia and held in a women's prison in Tunis. Libyan prosecutors say that she worked with the former attorney-general Ibrahim Goweil, who fled the country in the final days of the revolution. It is alleged that she was responsible for moving substantial sums of money out of the country illegally, money that had been amassed by her former boss Goweil. Libya is currently seeking her extradition. It was not clear this evening on what grounds Hamani had been released nor on what conditions she had secured her freedom. – Libya Herald
