Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 05 - 2013

HYDERABAD — Chennai Super Kings completed a comprehensive 77-run victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2013 here Wednesday.
This heavy loss leaves the home side in a precarious position as it stays fifth in the points table.
Chasing a mammoth 223, the Sunrisers had their backs to the wall and needed a herculean effort to overcome Chennai. They were pegged back early when Shikhar Dhawan was run out courtesy some smart glove work from MS Dhoni behind the stumps.
Parthiv Patel showed some intent of keeping the home side in the game and took the attack to the Chennai bowlers. He was joined by skipper Kumar Sangakkara who endured another failure, departing for just two runs off seven deliveries, leaving Sunrisers at 46 for two in the sixth over. Two overs later, Hanuma Vihari was walking back to the dugout after failing to clear Murali Vijay at long on.
Darren Sammy started the proceedings with a big six but he too fell and Patel holed out to Vijay deep square leg after making 44 off just 30 deliveries.
Thisara Perera gave the home fans something to cheer but it was too late. The total was always going to be tough to chase under lights against a decent bowling line-up.
Such was the domination of MS Dhoni's team. The home side eventually ended 77 runs short.
Earlier, Suresh Raina (99 not out) and Michael Hussey (67) fireworks took the powerful Chennai super Kings to a mammoth 223-3.
Brief scores:
Chennai Super Kings: 223 for 3 in 20 overs (Suresh Raina 99 n.o., Michael Hussey 67; Thisara Perera 3 for 45) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad 143 for 8 in 20 overs ( Parthiv Patel 44,Karan Sharma 39 n.o.; Mohit Sharma 2 for 28) by 77 runs. — Agencies
