Huawei, a global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has been given a special honor by the King Saud University in recognition of its "exceptional contribution to the development of the Saudi ICT sector". The event was held this week during the 50th anniversary of the King Saud University College of Engineering. Huawei, the diamond sponsor of this year's event, has worked closely with renowned public and private sector entities in Saudi Arabia for more than a decade, both as a key driver of ICT innovation and as a significant employer of local talent within the private sector. Collaborating with top minds across the Kingdom and the globe, Huawei joined University professors and students during the celebration to open up discussions on how young professionals can develop rewarding careers in the modern ICT industry. During the associated "Career Day" held alongside the college's 50th anniversary event, particular focus was given to the rising demand for mechanical engineers, software programmers and research assistants in Saudi Arabia. “Knowledge transfer is an incredibly important part of Huawei's global development strategy, and working with renowned institutions like King Saud University, we have been able to support local talent coming into the private sector while contributing to the government's overall priorities related to Saudization of the national workforce,” noted Wu Weitao, CEO of Huawei Saudi Arabia. “With the majority of Huawei's operations in KSA, currently driven by locally-hired employees, we believe that there is exceptional talent in the Saudi workforce, and we are committed to supporting bright minds through events like this.” – SG
