JEDDAH — As many as 600 technical trainees have graduated with diplomas from the Technical Vocational and Training Corporation (TVTC)'s women's section in cosmetology, tailoring and dressmaking. While the cosmetology course is subdivided into courses like makeup, hairstyling, skin care and management of a cosmetic care centers, the latter gives students skills in the areas of sewing, embroidery, crocheting and design. A graduation ceremony on Tuesday began with a recitation from the Qur'an, followed by a welcome address from Deputy Governor of the Institute Muneera Sulaiman Al-Aloola. Al-Aloola exuded confidence in the graduates' capabilities, and said: “Not only are our graduates highly skilled, but they will also be instrumental in filling the void for Saudi workers with good technical capabilities.” A short film on the institute and its facilities, which included sewing labs, was shown to the audience. After addresses by the dean of the college, Nada Zarnooqi, and valedictorian Mariam Al-Amri, students were called on the stage to receive their diplomas. As the students received their diplomas, the names of all graduates were displayed on the stage. This was accompanied by images of their work. Ayesha Salem Bamakhrama, assistant to the dean of student affairs, said in addition to continuously striving to improve the quality of their existing programs, the institute also aims to expand them. Bamakhrama said: “For now we have courses in only two fields, but we are planning to offer training courses in areas like computer networks, jewelry design and nutritional sciences. God willing, this will happen soon.”
