Saudi FM discuss development in Gaza in Barcelona with his counterparts from several countries

BARCELONA — Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan discussed developments in Gaza and its surrounding during meetings with his counterparts from Latvia, Cyprus, Germany, Spain, Italy, France and Ireland on the sidelines of the Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean in Barcelona.
During the meeting between Prince Faisal and the Latvian Foreign Minister Krišjānis Kariņš, the two sides stressed the importance of adhering to the humanitarian truce, with a complete and sustainable ceasefire to ensure the protection of civilians.
The two counterparts discussed international efforts made regarding allowing the entry of humanitarian, relief and medical aid to prevent the worsening of the humanitarian crisis.
Prince Faisal stressed the necessity of the international community fulfilling its moral and principled responsibility towards adhering to international legitimacy resolutions, the latest of which the Security Council resolution announced last week.
This is in order to achieve credibility for international law, maintain international peace and security, in addition to preventing the causes of extremism and violence.
Prince Faisal and Kariņš also reviewed bilateral relations, and ways to develop them in all fields, as well as discussing several topics of common interest.
Furthermore, the meetings of Prince Faisal included holding talks with Cyprus's Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, where the two sides discussed international contributions to securing safe corridors for allowing the entry of several humanitarian supplies.
The Saudi and Cypriot ministers discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them in various fields.
During the Saudi minister's meeting with his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, in Barcelona, they discussed developments in Gaza Strip, and the importance of abiding by the humanitarian truce in the region.
Prince Faisal stressed the importance of the international community fulfilling its responsibilities towards an immediate ceasefire and reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
Moreover, Prince Faisal met with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares. The two sides touched on the developments in the situation in Gaza Strip and its surroundings.
The Saudi foreign minister underscored the importance of intensifying international efforts to fully commit to protecting civilians in the region and ensuring the application of the rules of international law and international humanitarian law.
He also explained the importance of restoring the path of peace to ensure the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state, in accordance with the relevant international resolutions.
During the meeting with Italy's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, the two sides stressed the need to restore security and stability to Gaza Strip.
The Saudi foreign minister stressed the importance of quickly securing the corridors necessary for the entry of aid to civilians.
The Saudi foreign minister renewed Saudi Arabia's categorical rejection of the forced displacement of Gaza's residents.
Prince Faisal called on the international community to take serious and effective action to address all ongoing violations by the Israeli occupation forces and their repeated violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
Prince Faisal also met with Catherine Colonna, French minister for Europe and foreign affairs, during which the two sides discussed the situation in Gaza, as well as the efforts made for a sustainable ceasefire, and the importance of consolidating the truce.
The two sides also touched on many topics of common interest, in a way that enhances the security and stability of the Middle East and the world.
In his meeting with his Irish counterpart Micheál Martin, the Saudi foreign minister discussed international efforts to achieve a ceasefire, which would contribute to securing safe corridors in order to allow the entry of aid to those in need.
The two sides also reviewed bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Ireland, and ways to strengthen and develop them in various fields.
