RIYADH — The Ministry of Commerce has announced that it has carried out proactive inspection tours of sales outlets in all the regions of Saudi Arabia, in preparation for the holy Ramadan. The Ministry has carried out the tours to follow up on the abundance of Ramadan goods and products, and to check on the compliance of commercial establishments with its regulations. The tours come within its seasonal plan for the holy month of Ramadan, and the Umrah season, which started 6 months ago. It included holding periodic meetings with major suppliers to follow up on the progress of supply chains. Periodic meetings also worked to facilitate the flow of basic commodities and goods of high demand in Ramadan to sales outlets in appropriate quantities, and to ensure that any shortage in these commodities is covered. The Ministry said that the tours have included warehouses, central markets, hypermarkets, in addition to gold and jewelry stores, gas stations on the roads leading to Makkah and Madinah, and in the meeqat. The Ministry also, during its inspection tours and visits, monitors any effects it is witnessing on the movement of supply and demand, and meets any required increase. Also it makes sure of the multiplicity of suppliers of goods and products. It also takes legal measures against any violations of consumer protection regulations.
