The Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at the Al-Salam Palace here on Tuesday, reviewed the economic and structural reforms that were implemented within the framework of Vision 2030, and their role in strengthening the Saudi economy and overcoming various challenges that the world has faced over the past two years. The Cabinet added that this was evident in the performance of non-oil activities and on the gross domestic product until the end of the second quarter of this year 2022. The Council of Ministers also commended the inauguration of the port of Jazan City for Primary and Downstream Industries, which represents a new logistical platform for the Kingdom that contributes to developing industrial capabilities and increasing the penetration of Saudi exports to global markets, to achieve the vision's goals. At the outset of the session, the Cabinet was briefed on the content of the letters received by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques from the President of Tajikistan and the President of Burkina Faso, and the letter the Crown Prince received from the Indian Prime Minister, as well as the phone call that the Crown Prince received from the Prime Minister of Japan. The Cabinet then discussed the Kingdom's overall participation in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Arab League, G20 meetings during the past days, and what they included in highlighting the Kingdom's keenness to promote joint work in various fields and sustain cooperation with the international community to achieve the goals of sustainable development. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Acting Minister of Media Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi said that the Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom's interest in enhancing the competitiveness of national human capabilities locally and globally, through maximizing values, developing basic and future skills, and developing knowledge, citing in this context the Kingdom's progress in the Human Development Index (HDI) issued by the United Nations Development Program report for the year 2022. The Cabinet also authorized the Minister of Energy to discuss with the Chadian side a draft memorandum of cooperation between the government of Saudi Arabia and the government of Chad in the field of energy. It approved the establishment of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and the State of Belize at the level of an ambassador (non-resident), and authorizing the Minister of Foreign Affairs to sign the necessary draft protocol. The Cabinet authorized the Minister of Culture to discuss with the Chinese side a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the cultural field between the Ministry of Culture of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China. It approved a memorandum of understanding in the field of tourism between the Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic. It authorized the President of the University of Jeddah to negotiate with the Marshall Center at the University of Southern California of the United States of America regarding a draft memorandum of understanding between the University of Jeddah and the Marshall Center in the field of supply chain management. — SPA
