The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet's session held on Tuesday afternoon at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. At the outset of the session, the Cabinet was briefed on the content of the letters received by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques from the President of Tajikistan and the President of Burkina Faso, and the letter HRH the Crown Prince received from the Indian Prime Minister, as well as the phone call that HRH received from the Prime Minister of Japan. The Cabinet then discussed the Kingdom's overall participation in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for the Arab States, Arab League, G20 meetings during the past days, and what they included in highlighting the Kingdom's keenness to promote joint work in various fields and sustain cooperation with the international community to achieve the goals of sustainable development. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Acting Minister of Media Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi said that the Cabinet reviewed the economic and structural reforms that were implemented within the framework of Vision 2030, and their role in strengthening the Saudi economy and overcoming various challenges that the world has faced over the past two years, adding that this was evident in the performance of non-oil activities and on the gross domestic product until the end of the second quarter of this year 2022. The Cabinet commended the inauguration of the port of Jazan City for Primary and Downstream Industries, which represents a new logistical platform for the Kingdom that contributes to developing industrial capabilities and increasing the penetration of Saudi exports to global markets, to achieve the vision's goals. Dr. Al-Qasabi said the Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom's interest in enhancing the competitiveness of national human capabilities locally and globally, through maximizing values, developing basic and future skills, and developing knowledge, citing in this context the Kingdom's progress in the Human Development Index (HDI) issued by the United Nations Development Program report for the year 2022. The Cabinet was briefed on a number of issues on its agenda and issued the following decisions: First: Authorizing the Minister of Energy – or a deputy – to discuss with the Chadian side a draft memorandum of cooperation between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Republic of Chad in the field of energy, sign it and refer the final signed copy to proceed with formal procedures. Second: Approving the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Belize at the level of an ambassador (non-resident), and authorizing the Minister of Foreign Affairs – or a deputy – to sign the necessary draft protocol. Third: Authorizing the Minister of Culture – or a deputy – to discuss with the Chinese side a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the cultural field between the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, sign it and refer the final signed copy to proceed with formal procedures. Fourth: Approving a memorandum of understanding in the field of tourism between the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic. Fifth: Authorizing the President of the University of Jeddah – or a deputy – to negotiate with the Marshall Center at the University of Southern California of the United States of America regarding a draft memorandum of understanding between the University of Jeddah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Marshall Center at the University of Southern California of the United States of America in the field of supply chain management, sign it and refer the final signed copy to proceed with formal procedures. Sixth: Approving that the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu has the authority to set the competition and procurement regulations for Jazan City for Basic and Transformation Industries in accordance with the relevant provisions contained in the Royal Decree No. (M/75) dated 16/9/1395H before amending it. Seventh: Approving the closing accounts of the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), and King Khalid University for previous fiscal years. Eighth: Approving promotions to the 15th and 14th ranks and an appointment at the rank of (Minister Plenipotentiary). The Cabinet also reviewed several issues on its agenda and took necessary procedures regarding them.
