Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf on the mechanism of consultations between India and the GCC. The MoU was signed between the GCC Secretariat General and the government of India. Jaishankar held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Al-Hajraf and discussed the relevance of India-GCC cooperation in context with the current regional and global situation. "Productive meeting with GCC Secretary General Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf. Signed the MoU on mechanism of consultations between India and GCC. Exchanged views on the current regional and global situation and the relevance of India-GCC cooperation in that context," Jaishankar tweeted after the meeting The GCC chief stressed on the importance of strengthening the GCC-Indian relations to serve common interests. The two sides held a session of official talks and reviewed relations of cooperation between the GCC countries and India. They also discussed aspects of the GCC-Indian relations in many fields of joint cooperation. The GCC Secretary General affirmed that the relations with India are among the most important historical and solid relations between the GCC countries and India. He asserted that India is one of the largest trading partners of the GCC and an ideal model for addressing challenges and seizing opportunities, particularly in the fields of investment and economy. He praised the bilateral relations between the GCC countries and India in light of the economic cooperation agreement signed between the GCC and India in 2004. — Agencies
