King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), through videoconference in the presence of Advisor at the Royal Court and KSrelief Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, signed on Monday two cooperation agreements with the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNHCR with a total value of $10 million to offer medical and shelter assistance for refugees from Ukraine to neighboring countries, mainly Poland. KSrelief Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs Ahmed bin Ali Al-Beez, WHO Regional Director for Europe Dr. Hans Henri Kluge, Advisor to the High Commissioner and UNHCR Representative to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Khlaled Khalifa signed the two agreements at the center's headquarters in Riyadh. The agreement with WHO stipulates supporting emergency health response for refugees from Ukraine in neighboring countries with a value of $5 million by securing and distributing emergency medical supplies in accordance with needs assessed by health authorities in Poland. This assistance includes medical supplies for noncommunicable diseases, such as diabetes, heart diseases and vascular diseases, among others, in addition to medical supplies for preventive vaccines for diseases such as measles and polio. The agreement is expected to benefit 1,000,000 individuals. Meanwhile, the agreement with UNHCR entails supporting top priority needs of Ukrainian refugees in neighboring countries with a total value of $5 million through securing various shelter items for 75,000 individuals. The aid supplies include 100,000 blankets, 75,000 mattresses, 75,000 bed sheets, 75,000 rubber bed sheets and 50,000 sleeping bags. Dr. Al-Rabeeah said that signing the two agreements is in implementation of directives by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to offer emergency medical and shelter assistance to refugees from Ukraine to neighboring countries, mainly Poland, in coordination with the Polish government and UN organizations. He stressed that this assistance reflects the leading role of Saudi Arabia in the field of relief and humanitarian work at the global level. These two agreements are part of humanitarian and relief projects that are implemented by the Kingdom through KSrelief in various countries of the world. — SPA
