Speaker of the Shoura Council of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh received the Ambassador of Germany Dieter Lamle and a number of officials from the embassy at the Shoura Council's headquarters here Wednesday. At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Al-Sheikh welcomed the German ambassador, wishing him success in his duties in a way that contributes to strengthening the bilateral relations that bring together the two friendly countries. He stressed the importance of relations between Saudi Arabia and Germany in various fields, especially economic, investment and trade. During the meeting, the Speaker presented the role of the Shoura Council in the legislative system in Saudi Arabia and work mechanisms, in addition to its efforts at the level of parliamentary diplomacy in all regional and international events and through its membership in regional and international unions. For his part, the German ambassador underlined the important role of parliamentary relations in enhancing bilateral cooperation through activating parliamentary friendship committees and continuous communication between the Shoura Council and the German Bundestag, the national parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany, stressing that the relations between two countries are distinguished. — SPA
