The Saudi-led coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen on Wednesday announced the interception and destruction of two booby-trapped drones fired deliberately and systematically by the "terrorist" Houthi militias to target the residential areas in the southern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait. "Escalation of the Houthi militias to target civilians and the residential areas is a barbaric and hostile act," Saudi Press Agency quoted the coalition. The Houthi attempts to fire the explosive-laden drones have been repelled, the Coalition said. It emphasized that it would take all required operational steps to deal with the source of threats so as to protect civilians and the urban areas from the hostile assaults, in line with international humanitarian law and its norms. Meanwhile, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Dr. Yousef Bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen strongly denounced the terrorist Houthi militia's failed attempts to target civilians and civilian objects in Khamis Mushait City, with two bomb-laden drones, praising, at the same time, the Saudi Air Defense Forces' efficiency and skills in intercepting and destroying the drones before reaching their targets. Dr. Al-Othaimeen reiterated his calls on the international community to take decisive stances to stop the continuous cowardly threats with ballistic missiles and UAVs that the Houthi militia uses to target civilians and civilian objects. He stressed the OIC's firm position that considers the Houthi militia's practices a blatant challenge to international humanitarian law and war crimes. The secretary general affirmed the OIC's support for all measures that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia takes to confront the practices of the terrorist Houthi militia, preserve its security, stability and the safety of its citizens and residents. — SPA
