LONDON — The Saudi-British Sustainable Investment Forum kicked off here on Monday in the presence of Saudi Ambassador Prince Khalid Bin Bandar Bin Sultan and Minister of Commerce Majid Al-Qasabi, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Organized by the Saudi-British Joint Business Council, the forum brings together Saudi and British investors with government representatives to discuss the partnership and investment opportunities available to support the transition toward greener and less oil-dependent economies. It follows the launch of the "Green Saudi Arabia" initiative and reflects joint Saudi and UK interest in developing green technologies and carbon capture. Participating in the forum, William Russell, the Lord Mayor of London, expressed his aspirations to work with Saudi Arabia to achieve sustainable development goals in the green energy sectors, indicating that global financial services will play a major role in supporting economic transformation and achieving a carbon-free future. Meanwhile, the Saudi ambassador to the UK welcomed the attendees and guests, stressing that the relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom are historic and old. Prince Khalid Bin Bandar said that the United Kingdom is not only an ally but also a friend, pointing out that the forum offers an important platform to discuss investment opportunities between the two countries and the joint work toward a green future. Taking part in a ministerial session, Al-Qasabi stressed in his speech during the session that the recent visits of British ministers to Saudi Arabia are a testimony to the strength of the relationship between the two countries, calling for establishing a communication channel between investors to open new investment areas. Deputy Minister of Commerce Dr. Iman bint Habas Al-Mutairi highlighted the recent measures as part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, pointing out that what has been achieved during the past four years would have otherwise taken decades.
