High-level delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan and a number of representatives of different sectors from the two countries held a meeting of the Saudi-Uzbek Joint Committee, its fourth session, during the Uzbek team's visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting was co-chaired by Minister of Investment Eng. Khalid Bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Umurzakov Sardor. Also present was Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev. During the meeting, they signed the minutes of the joint committee meeting, which drew a road map to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in all economic sectors, in the post-recovery period of the coronavirus pandemic. In addition they discussed ways to enhance investment opportunities, and empower Saudi investors in the sectors of air transport, energy, health, tourism, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and others. They discussed the possibility of establishing a joint investment with the Public Investment Fund to support joint investments. They also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of attracting Uzbek human resources. A number of memorandums of understanding were also signed between the two countries, to develop investments in the fields of energy and agriculture, with the aim of establishing a new phase of economic partnership between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan. On the sidelines of the visit, a meeting was held for the Uzbek delegation, co-chaired by the minister of investment, and the deputy prime minister and minister of investments and foreign trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with a number of senior businessmen and representatives of the private sector in Saudi Arabia, with the aim of promoting and developing business between the two countries.
