RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health recorded on Wednesday 249 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 357,872. The ministry also reported 12 more deaths due to complications caused by COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities to 5,919. The ministry also reported 337 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 347,513 with the recovery rate climbing to 97.10 percent. Of the new cases, the Riyadh region continued to report the highest number of cases with 65 followed by the Makkah region with 51, Madinah with 32 and the Eastern region with 29 cases. The Jazan region recorded only 1 case, the lowest in the Kingdom. The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom. With the steady drop in the number of daily cases and the spike in recoveries, the active cases in the Kingdom also came down significantly with 4,440 reported on Tuesday, and out of the total, 632 were critical cases.
