Global coronavirus cases cross 46.73m; over 1.2m dead

More than 46.73 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,202,824 have died, according to a Reuters tally published on Tuesday.
With 231,098 deaths and over 9.2 million confirmed cases, the United States tops the list of twenty countries with the highest recorded infections and deaths in the world, followed by India, Brazil and Russia.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday reported 9,182,628 cases of the novel coronavirus, an increase of 77,398 cases from its previous count, and said that the number of deaths had risen by 451 to 230,383, according to Reuters.
The CDC reported its tally of cases of the respiratory illness known as COVID-19 as of 4 p.m. ET on Nov. 1, compared with its previous report released a day earlier.
India has achieved several significant milestones in its fight against COVID-19 the Health and Welfare Ministry said. With 38,310 new COVID19 infections, India's total cases surge to 82,67,623. With 490 new deaths, toll mounts to 1,23,097. Total active cases are 5,41,405 after a decrease of 20,503 in last 24 hours. Total cured cases are 76,03,121 with 58,323 new discharges in the last 24 hours.
New confirmed cases in the last 24 hours have fallen under 40,000. The daily new cases stand at 38,310 after 15 weeks. The new added cases were 37,724 on July 22, 2020. The slide in the active cases in supplemented by an exponential rise in the recoveries. The total recovered cases have crossed 76 lakhs (76,03,121).
The gap between active cases and recovered cases has crossed 70 lakh Tuesday and stands at 70,61,716. 58,323 patients have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours. The national Recovery Rate has further escalated to 91.96%. And 80% of the new recovered cases are observed to be concentrated in 10 States/UTs.
In Brasilia, Brazil reported 8,501 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, and 179 deaths from COVID-19, the Brazilian Health Ministry said today. Brazil comes third globally after United States and India in terms of COVID-19 infections.
In Berlin, Germany announced on Tuesday registering 131 deaths and new 15,352 coronavirus infections. Robert Koch Institute, which monitors the pandemic in the country, announced in a press statement that the new infection Tuesday pushed the death toll to 10,661 while the total infections reached 560,379.
In Brussels, total infections of coronavirus cases in Belgium on Tuesday reached 4447,355 with 6,337 new infections reported by Belgian health authorities. They said there were 121 more deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours raising the total death toll to 11,858.
In Athens, seven persons have died from coronavirus (COVID-19) in Greece over the past 24 hours as the country's health authorities have reported 1,152 new cases, The National Organization for Public Health of Greece reported that the total who have contracted the disease amounted to 42,080 while the death tally stood at 642.
Due the recent increases of the victims and contractors of coronavirus, the health authorities decided to impose a partial closedown in all parts of the country as of tomorrow, an official statement said. — Agencies
