DOHA, Qatar — Doha Bank, a private commercial banking group in Qatar, is taking part in the sixth annual Qatar Career Fair to support Qatari students and graduates in building careers, it said in a statement. The Bank said it is participating in the Career Fair, which is being held at the Qatar National Convention Center, to guide the students and graduates in choosing and building their careers in the financial services sector. The fair stated on April 1 and will last until April 6. Doha Bank's stand was inaugurated on the first day of the Career Fair by Sheikh Abdullah Saoud Al Thani, Governor of the Qatar Central Bank (QCB), Sheikh Fahad Faisal Al-Thani, Deputy Governor of the QCB, and Doha Bank's Managing Director, Sheikh Abdul Rehman Bin Mohammad Bin Jabor Al Thani. The bank governor praised the project for providing opportunities for Qatari students and graduates as well as the extended training that the bank provides to its employees. It will enhance Qatar's skills base and the professional aptitude of the country's national work force, he said. The deputy governor, for his part, congratulated Doha Bank for continuing to support youth development in the country. “Doha Bank strives to be a responsible corporate citizen of Qatar and one of the key strategic objectives of the bank is to nurture talent and seek new additions to the bank's staff who will augment our core strength as a leading financial institution in the country that works to be a first-mover and leader in many segments of the financial sector,” Al Thani said. “It is also essential to Doha Bank's on-going development and growth in Qatar and internationally that we secure the support and loyalty of young, enthusiastic and passionate individuals who can help build the brand even further.” He said Doha Bank has more than 24 percent Qatari employees and is seeking to increase the ratio by hiring talented individuals and helping them develop the skills required to play an active role in Qatar's financial services sector. Abdul Rahman Ali Al Mohammed, head of Human Resources at Doha Bank, added: “Doha Bank is an active supporter of Qatari students and the youth. The Bank has a very active scholarship program and as of 2013, it is sponsoring 59 students in universities in and outside Qatar.” The bank, he said, has a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Labor and the College of the North Atlantic Qatar to support the training of at least 10 Qatari banking students at the College this year. “Doha Bank offers graduates numerous programs aimed at attracting young talent and developing them into the leaders of tomorrow,” he said. “The Banking Trainee Program for example grooms graduates to take on daily responsibilities, inclusive of executive mentorship and active experience in the Bank's various operational units.” The program includes classroom training, on the job training and e-learning opportunities which are offered by the Bank's Human Resources department. The duration of the scholarship is a maximum of four to five years for university studies and two to three years for diplomas. — SG
