RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has confirmed 1,114 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, raising the total to 309,768 on Tuesday, the health ministry announced. Thirty-one more people succumbed to the virus taking the total fatalities to 3,722, health ministry spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying. The number of recoveries reached 283,932 after 31 individuals who had previously tested positive for the virus recovered, he said. There are 22,114 active cases in the country, of which 1,639 are in critical condition, the spokesman said. On Monday, there were 1,175 new cases, 2,745 recoveries and 42 deaths. Makkah continues to top the list of cities reporting 74 new infections on Tuesday as against 84 reported a day before. There were 56 cases in Jazan, 54 in Jeddah, 53 in Khamis Mushayt, 51 in Riyadh, 43 in Madinah, 39 in Qunfudah, 38 in Sabya, 34 each in Samtha and Dammam, 29 in Tabuk, 27 in Hail, 26 each in Abu Arish and Baesh, 25 in Taif, and 21 in Yanbu. The rest of the cases were scattered in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom, Dr. Al-Abdel Ali said.
