RIYADH — A steady increase was seen in the number of coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia as 1,521 new infections were recorded during the last 24 hours, health ministry said. The total number of coronavirus cases in the Kingdom now stand at 291,468, health ministry spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying. Of the new cases, 101 were detected in the city of Riyadh, while 88 were found in Makkah and 75 in Dammam. There were 65 cases each in Hufof and Madinah, 51 in Jazan, 45 in Hail, 39 each in Mobarraz, Yanbu and Jeddah. The rest fof the infections were scattered across the Kingdom, the spokesman said. A total of 1,640 individuals who had previously tested positive for the virus had recovered, raising the total to 255,118, which makes up nearly 88 percent of the total cases. The death toll increased to 3,233 with 34 new fatalities recorded.
