RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has recorded 2,671 new coronavirus infections over the past 24 hours as daily cases continue to decline, according to the health ministry. There were 2,692 cases on Tuesday and 2,852 cases on Monday. An additional 40 fatalities were also reported, raising the death toll to 2,325. Despite the continued detection of new cases, the total number of recoveries has reached 183,048, making up 76 percent of all cases. Nearly 5,500 individuals who had previously tested positive for the virus have recovered over the past 24 hours. There are 55,101 active cases in the country, of which 2,221 are critical, health ministry spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying. Jeddah continued to be on the top of the list of new infections with 250 cases. It was followed by 226 in Riyadh, 211 in Hufof, 174 in Mobarraz and 144 in Dammam, the spokesman said. There were 97 and 78 new infections recorded in Makkah and Madinah, respectively, he said.
