KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Saturday recorded 491 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 67,448, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported citing a statement from the health ministry. Of the new cases, there were 358 Kuwaiti citizens and 133 expatriates from different countries, according to the ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad. The ministry also announced six more deaths from complications caused by COVID-19, bringing the total number of virus-related fatalities in the country to 453. The spokesman added that there were 134 patients receiving treatment in intensive care units. According to the spokesman, a total 2,432 additional coronavirus tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of tests in the country so far to 507,520. Earlier in the day, the health ministry said that 593 more patients recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries to 58,525.
