KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait on Thursday recorded 626 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 66,529, the Kuwait news agency KUNA reported citing a statement from the health ministry. Of the new cases, there were 413 Kuwaiti citizens and 213 expatriates from different countries, according to the health ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said. The spokesman added that most of the new cases were in touch with previously infected people while the source of infection in some cases is still being investigated. The ministry also announced one more death from COVID-19, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities in Kuwait to 445. There are 134 patients receiving intensive care treatment, the official added in a media update. The ministry said that it conducted 3,811 additional coronavirus tests over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests to 502,168. Earlier in the day, the ministry said that 863 more patients recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries from the deadly disease in the country to 57,330.
