RIYADH — Saudi Arabia n Thursday recorded 1,629 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, marking the Kingdom's lowest single-day increase since June, the Ministry of Health said in a statement. The country's highest single-day infections reached 4,301 on June 19. This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the Kingdom to 274, 219. The ministry also announced 26 more deaths from complications caused by the infection, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities in the Kingdom to 2,842. Meanwhile, a total of 2,629 more patients recovered from the deadly disease, pushing the total number of recoveries to 231,198, with the recovery rate rising to 84.3 percent. The city of Hafouf saw the highest number of new cases with 137 new infections. Riyadh had the second highest with 114 and Al Mothnib governorate recorded 71 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours. According to the ministry, there are 40,179 active cases out of which 2.044 are in a critical condition. There were no cases reported in the holy sites, the ministry added.
