JAZAN — Two elderly brothers, who were an example of fraternal love and affection ever since they had grown up as orphans, were united even in their death. The saga of the ideal life and death of the siblings — Muhammad Al-Madawi and Saeed Al-Madawi — from the Darb governorate in the southern Jazan region became an instant hit in the social media with many users posting several combo pictures. These included dozens of pictures of the two brothers on different occasions during the arduous journey of their life, including their land trips, family visits, a pilgrimage to Makkah and Madinah, in addition to a photo of their graves adjacent to each other. The last words of Muhammad showed that he would soon die and thus join his brother Saeed, as he could never think of living without him. Saeed died last Thursday while the death of Muhammad happened a few hours after the burial of his sibling. "Your uncle Saeed died and I am joining him," these were the last words of my father told me, according to Muhammad's son Mufreh. "My father was very much attached to his brother, and both of them had a painful childhood after the death of their father in the city of Abha and then they moved to live in the city of Rijal Almaa with their mother who also died in their childhood. Afterward, the siblings lived together throughout their life." According to Mufreh, his father and uncle had a strong relationship, and they lived in the same neighborhood throughout their lives, even during their work-related travel between cities. "Last Thursday morning, my uncle Saeed died and we did not inform our father about death until an hour before the burial, fearing the impact of the shocking news on him. When he heard of his brother's death, it was devastating for him and he told us that he would soon follow his brother," he said. Muhammad died a few hours later on Friday morning and was buried next to his brother Saeed in the same cemetery. Mufreh said that Saeed was admitted to Asir Central Hospital due to heart problem and died after being infected with coronavirus, while his father was not suffering from any disease. "We lost two most precious people, who lived with love, sincerity and loyalty, setting an example for fraternal love," he added.
