ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Friday reported 293 new coronavirus cases, pushing the total number of infections in the country to 56,422, the Ministry of Health and Prevention said in a statement carried by state news agency WAM. The ministry also announced two more deaths from complications caused by coronavirus infection, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities to 337. Meanwhile, a total of 1,036 coronavirus patients have completely recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 48,448, according to the ministry. The new cases, all of whom are in a stable health condition and receiving the necessary medical care, were detected after the authorities conducted more than 48,000 additional coronavirus tests among different segments of the society over the past few days, the ministry said. The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to all patients. It urged the public to cooperate with health authorities and comply with all precautionary measures, particularly social distancing protocols, to ensure the safety and protection of the public.
