The Saudi Professional League (SPL), which is the top division of association football league in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has given the green signal for resumption of competitive football. The League's Competitions Committee has set the dates for the resumption and conclusion of Prince Muhammad Bin Salman Cup Professional League and Prince Muhammad Bin Salman First Class Professional League. The competition for Prince Muhammad Bin Salman Cup Professional League for the current sports season (2019-2020), will start from Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, till Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020, while the next sports season (2020-2021) of the competition will be launched on Friday, Oct. 16, 2020. As for Prince Muhammad Bin Salman First Class Professional League, the competition for the current sports season will resume on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, and will end on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020, with the next sports season (2020-2021) of the competition to start on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020. The committee clarified that it will announce the dates of the remaining rounds of the two competitions for the current sports season 2019-2020 early next week. The SPL Board of Directors thanked the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, for the great attention being paid to the health and safety of citizens and residents, through precautionary measures being taken by the committee concerned to curb the spread of novel coronavirus, and its support for all areas and activities in order to reduce the effects of this pandemic. The League also appreciated the efforts of Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal and his efforts to follow-up on the safety of all athletes as a top priority, through the guide announced recently by the Ministry. The guide includes the protocol for the return of sports training and the protocol for sports matches, in preparation for the return of sports activity after coordination with relevant authorities to follow up the developments of COVID-19. — SPA
