PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins overcame a bloody injury to Sidney Crosby for their 15th straight NHL victory, beating the New York Islanders 2-0 in Jarome Iginla's debut Saturday. They moved within two wins of the NHL record of 17 straight victories set by Mario Lemieux and the 1992-93 Penguins. Pittsburgh won all 15 of its games in March, the first perfect month in league history. The Penguins also won a franchise best 12th straight at home. Flyers 3, Bruins 1: Mike Knuble, Matt Read and Ruslan Fedotenko scored goals and Ilya Bryzgalov made 33 saves and as the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Boston Bruins 3-1 to snap a three-game losing streak. With the victory the Canadiens extended their Northeast Division lead with 49 points, three ahead of Boston while the Rangers lost for the seventh time in 10 games. Hurricanes 3, Jets 1: Netminder Justin Peters stopped 34 shots as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 to snap a seven losing skid and vault back into the Eastern Conference playoff race. Panthers 3, Devils 2: Dmitry Kulikov scored his first goal of the season with 3:17 left in overtime to give the Florida Panthers a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils. Avalanche 1, Predators 0: Tyson Barrie scored 50 seconds into overtime and Semyon Varlamov stopped 34 shots for his third shutout of the season as the Colorado Avalanche battled to a 1-0 win over the Nashville Predators.
