Published in The Saudi Gazette on 03 - 05 - 2020

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), in cooperation with Yemeni Development Network for Non-governmental Organizations (YDN), launched on Saturday a project to distribute dates for displaced people in Marib Governorate, Yemen.
The project will include the distribution of 18,750 cartons of dates weighing 150 tons to displaced Yemenis in Marib from Sanaa, from the total 3,000 tons of dates that will be distributed in 13 different Yemeni governorates.
This aid comes as an extension of relief and humanitarian efforts that Saudi Arabia provides through KSrelief to all Yemeni governorates.
The KSrelief, represented by the Center to the Lebanese people, distributed in Beirut on Saturday, 217 food baskets weighing 16 tons and 58kg to needy families during the holy month of Ramadan, benefiting 1,247 people. This aid distribution was done within the framework of the project of distributing food baskets by Saudi Arabia.
In Port Sudan, the KSrelief distributed 2,250 Ramadan food baskets in a number of the Red Sea State's districts, in cooperation with the Al-Eghtinam Human Development Organization. The aid benefited 13,500 individuals. This is part of a project to distribute 38,211 food baskets during the month of Ramadan in Sudan.
The KSrelief continued in Mogadishu to distribute Ramadan food baskets in Somalia, where 1,200 Ramadan food baskets, weighing 108 tons, were distributed, benefiting 7,200 individuals. The distribution was done in cooperation with Misbah Association For Development. KSrelief hopes to distribute 10,761 food baskets to those in need in Somalia during the holy month of Ramadan to benefit 64,566 people.
While, in Lahore, KSrelief continued for the ninth consecutive day to distribute Ramadan food baskets in Punjab, Pakistan, in cooperation with the responsible authorities of the Pakistani government.
The organization delivers aid to beneficiaries' homes or their nearest sites while taking all precautions laid down by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19. About 1,645 food baskets were distributed to needy families benefiting 9,870 people in a number of Punjab's provinces.
KSrelief Project ‘Masam' dismantles 7,162 mines
The KSrelief's project for clearing mines (Masam) in Yemen demined 7,162 mines during the month of April 2020, including 106 antipersonnel mines, 1,402 anti-tanks, 5,617 unexploded ordnance, and 37 explosive devices.
Since the beginning of the project, 163,183 landmines have been dismantled. The mines had been planted by Houthi militias in Yemen claiming lives and inflicting serious injuries that even led to the amputation of limbs of children, women and the elderly.
The project comes as a continuation of efforts being exerted by Saudi Arabia to clear Yemeni lands of landmines and unexploded ordnance, and to train Yemeni national cadres in demining action. — SPA
