King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's project for clearing mines in Yemen (Masam) demined 1,022 mines during the first week of May 2020, including 103 antipersonnel mines, 146 anti-tanks, 811 unexploded ordnance, and 52 explosive devices. Since the beginning of the project, 164,205 landmines have been dismantled after they had been planted by Houthi militias in Yemen, claiming lives, serious injuries or amputation of children, women and the elderly. The project comes as a continuation of efforts being exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, to clear Yemeni lands of landmines and unexploded ordnance, and train Yemeni cadres in demining action.
