Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 01 - 2020

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman made a telephone call Thursday to Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
During the conversation, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques confirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's stand with Australia in difficult conditions in the face of current bushfires in Australia, and the Kingdom's readiness to provide assistance so that Australia overcomes this disaster.
The King expressed his condolences to the Prime Minister and families of those deceased in the bushfires, while wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
The King also said that the Kingdom and its people share with the Australian people the feelings of pain as a result of this disaster.
For his part, the Australian prime minister expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Saudi people for their sincere feelings towards Australia and its people.
No Saudis affected; emergency room set up
Saudi Arabia's Embassy in Canberra, capital of Australia, has set up an emergency operations room that works around the clock to monitor the situation of Saudi citizens and scholarship students in the wake up of the massive bushfire.
This was in line with the direct instructions from Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman and the follow up of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal Bin Farhan. The operations room will receive their communications and direct them with the necessary instructions for their safety and security.
"We have reported no cases of injury or casualties among Saudi citizens and they are all in good health," the embassy said in a statement.
The embassy has already warned, through its official account on Twitter, Saudi citizens in some of the affected states of Australia, and informed them of the necessity to follow the instructions of the local authorities.
It called on the citizens and students to take precaution against forest fires. In emergency cases or in the event of the desire to return to the Kingdom, they can contact the embassy on the following numbers of (0432257277/ 0412014803/ 04120147/02/ 0412014903) and through the email ([email protected]).
The embassy will brief the cultural attaché about details of the scholarship students who are leaving the country so that the attaché can communicate with the authorities related with their studies so as not to affect their studies and scholarship courses. — SPA
