GASTAT: Youth make up 67.02% of Saudi population

Youth make up 67.02 percent of the total Saudi population, that is those in the age category (0–34) years, the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) said in the report it issued on Friday.
The report showed the results of the "Saudi Youth Development Survey for 2019", which it published on its official website www.stats.gov.sa
The Survey, which was carried out during Q2 2019 aims to make available a number of important indices on the actual situation of the youth from various aspects.
These include social, demographic and economic aspects; highlighting the issues and challenges facing the youth; identifying their needs; obtaining a number of indices and parameters; some detailed data on education, work and economic status; measuring the societal participation and the youth's level of basic knowledge on first aid, and domestic and traffic safety.
The results of the survey show that the percentage of the Saudi population in the age category 15–34 years reached 36.70 percent of the total population. Of these, the percentage of males reached 51.03, while the percentage of females reached 48.97.
The survey results also showed that the percentage of the youth who faced learning difficulties reached 31.75, of whom 31.86 percent are males and 31.64 percent are females.
The results of the survey have shown that the percentage of the youth who are entrepreneurs and have benefited from the support provided by the financial institutions has reached 55.13.
Meanwhile, the percentage of the youth who have a monthly income with which they have been able to fulfill their financial commitments has reached 68.91. Of these, 69.59 percent were males and 70.48 percent were females.
Meantime, the percentage of the youth who save part of their monthly income has reached 44.71. Of these, 43.62 percent were males and 50.19 percent were females.
The survey results showed that the percentage of the youth who use the social media websites has reached 98.43. Of these, males formed 98.63 percent while females comprised 98.22 percent.
The percentage of the youth whose social relations have been affected by the social media has reached 35.83. Of these, males formed 36.81 percent and females 34.80 percent.
The percentage of the youth who have full knowledge on basic first aid reached 19.21. Of these, 23.17 percent were males and 15.09 percent were females. — SPA
