JEDDAH — Police have arrested a gang of men that allegedly broke into 20 houses in several neighborhoods of Jeddah and robbed their occupants of valuable items, including jewelry. Undercover police dispatched to many stores in the city noticed a young Saudi man carrying many cell phones in his hands and trying to sell them. After stopping him and asking him about the cell phones, he confessed that his relative gave them to him. The agents also stopped two African men because of their suspicious behavior. It turned out that one of them had a prior criminal record and he confessed to robbing several houses. He told the police about his accomplices and all were arrested. The gang leader admitted that in some of his crimes he used a knife to threaten people. He also stole a citizen's car and ran away before leaving it at a neighborhood in south Jeddah. Jeddah Police spokesman First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq said the undercover police worked around the clock to nail the gang.
