ISLAMABAD — Saudi Arabia supports a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue based on pertinent UN resolutions, Shoura (Consultative) Council chief Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Bin Muhammad Bin Ibrahim Al-Asheikh has said. The Kingdom always wants peace and stability in the region taking into account the interests of the Kashmir population, he said. Al-Asheikh highlighted efforts exerted by the Shoura Council and the Parliament in Pakistan to support the Kashmir issue at the Islamic parliamentary level. Al-Asheikh was speaking at a reception hosted by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in his office here on Saturday, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said. Prime Minister Khan described the distinguished relations between the leaderships and peoples of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as well-established and solid, pointing in this regard to his distinguished relations with Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, who is respected and appreciated in Pakistan for his efforts toward developing relations between the two countries in all aspects. The Pakistani premier also praised the results of his recent visit to the Kingdom. He said he got acquainted closely with the development process and comprehensive reform taking place in Saudi Arabia under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman with the support of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense. This is with the aim of enhancing development and diversifying the sources of income, in a way that reflects the status of the Kingdom in the world and the important political role it plays at the regional and international levels. Khan and Al-Asheikh reviewed the most important challenges facing peace and stability in the region, and the importance of the Kashmir issue, stressing the need to work on countering extremism and terrorism in all forms. Meanwhile, Al-Asheikh affirmed Saudi Arabia's keenness to strengthen and develop relations with Pakistan in all fields in a way serving the interests of the two countries and their peoples. Al-Asheikh stressed the depth of historical relations between the two countries. He said: "The Kingdom's relations with Pakistan are at their best at present." He commended the achievements of the government of Pakistan in the economic field and its success in mixing progress with preserving national identity and culture. Dr. Osama Al-Rabiah, Dr. Ayman Fadel, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Harqan, and the Kingdom's Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Bin Said Al-Maliki are also part of the Shoura delegation currently visiting Pakistan.
