The Secretary General of the Muslim World League Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa met at the White House in Washington DC with White House adviser Jason Greenblatt, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said Saturday.
They discussed a number of subjects related to violent extremism, terrorism, and the initiatives to promote the values of human and national brotherhood among followers of religions, ethnicities and cultures.
Meanwhile Al-Issa held extensive dialogue sessions in New York and Washington with the presidents and members of the most prestigious and important international research centers, including the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the Atlantic Council, the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, and the most prominent institutions and research centers.
These come within the sphere of the ongoing MWL programs in the US, spearheaded by MWL Secretary General, who is continuing his meetings with important US political and religious figures, intellectuals and media persons, in addition to the most important and prominent research institutions and centers.
Al-Issa held open dialogues with several American research institutions. They dealt with a number of ideas and initiatives. They also held discussions on several subjects of mutual concern.
The two sides stressed the importance of cooperation and partnership with the MWL, lauding its global initiatives to establish peace and harmony between nations and peoples while clarifying the reality of Islam versus misconceptions.
Several of these research institutions stressed the importance of the report issued recently by the US State Department in which it valued the ongoing role by the Secretariat General of the MWL, and what was published in this connection by some US newspapers on the pivotal role being carried out by the MWL, especially the initiatives and programs activated globally by MWL chief Sheikh Al-Issa.
The research institutions valued the contents of the Makkah Declaration (Document) issued recently by MWL after attestation by over 1,200 muftis and religious scholars. It is considered to be one of the most important documents of the modern age.
Meanwhile, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi awarded MWL Secretary General and President of the League of Islamic Universities Dr. Muhammad Al-Issa the First Class Science and Arts Medal in recognition of his efforts, according to the citation of the award.
Al-Issa expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian president. He deemed the medal an honor, he is proud of, from the president and the Arab Republic of Egypt. — SP
