RIYADH – The Ministry of Justice announced on Monday the list of those women candidates who are qualified to appear for job interviews for notaries from Saturday. In a statement, the ministry said the results of the employment competition, which was held during the period from July 30 to Aug. 5, were published on its website. "Personal interviews will be held from Saturday for all those who received interview card in accordance with the modified schedule," it said while urging the candidates to abide strictly with the designated schedule for each one of them. The ministry underlined the need for verifying the result of the candidacy for the personal interview, printing the result as well as checking the date, time and location of the interview. The ministry took the landmark decision to recruit women notaries with the aim of facilitating judicial services for women and expanding their role in the Kingdom's government sector. The new announcement of notary public posts is considered a milestone for the ministry to offer women an opportunity to enroll in such important government positions. The ministry had announced grade-7 "notary public" vacancies for women, who will work at notarial offices across the Kingdom. The women notary public will be appointed in the main cities as a first step and then move to other cities in the Kingdom. The ministry has been focusing on female employment within the legal sector as part of its plans to support and empower women, widen career options and help them play a bigger role in this sector. Previously eligible female employees worked in private notarial offices, helping those offices provide wider notarial services options to clients and creating more efficiency. According to the ministry, private notaries can issue and cancel powers of attorney, and notarize corporate charters and property conveyances. Their private offices work in the mornings and evenings, seven days a week, using an integrated digital system.
