JEDDAH — Dr. Fatmah Baothman, assistant professor at Jeddah's King Abdulaziz University, the first Saudi modern artificial intelligence specialist in the Middle East, was granted the first-ever Women AI Award. The award was announced at the VB AI Summit Transform 2019 in San Francisco, USA. Dr. Baothman extended her gratitude for this global honor in the AI research category and for recognizing women in AI and their accomplishments in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Baothman offered her thanks and gratefulness to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Prince Muhammed Bin Salman for their unflinching support to women's education and improving the future growth of Saudi women enabling them to compete globally. Dr. Baothman explained the importance of artificial intelligence and its impact on all fields and indicated that the Crown Prince has taken robust steps by signing global agreements with various nations in advanced technology, the 2030 Vision is already empowering and supporting innovation and advancement from different perspectives. Dr. Baothman emphasized the importance of having a government body or ministry for artificial intelligence to meet the challenges resulting from the acceleration of science and its effects on the economy and all aspects of human life.
