Muhammad Mujahid Syed Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The “Aalami Urdu Markaz Jeddah” held a reception for the visiting Pakistani Naat (eulogy) poets and singers Noor Muhammad Jarral, Qamar Warsi and Sabih Rahmani, country manager of Saudi Arabia for Shaheen Air International Ltd, at Lasani Spinzer on Friday. A large number of Urdu poetry lovers attended the event. Jarral thanked the Jeddah audience for the affection showered on him after he recited some senior poet Hafeez Taeb's eulogies. He had migrated to the US 13 years ago and is currently in the Kingdom for Umrah. Qamar Warsi, a senior poet and head of Dabistan-e-Warsi Karachi, was lauded for his services in the field of poetry and its promotion. He is a known face in the annual poetry symposiums held here. His simple and meaningful poetries were also well-received by the audience. The salient feature of this event was that a particular “Radeef” (rhyming word of verse) was announced by Warsi on which the local and Pakistani poets composed an eulogy on the spot. The poetry of the participants are published by Dabistan-e-Warsi annually. Rehmani, a young gifted poet and a famous eulogy singer wholeheartedly lent his voice to some deep Naats which touched the hearts of the audience. Despite being late, Rehmani was asked to perform repeatedly on demand. Syed Tahseem-ul-Haq Haqqi, vice consul welfare of Pakistan, was the chief guest at the event. Haqqi lauded Aalami Urdu Markaz Jeddah's literary efforts and praised Athar Abbasi, president, and Hamidul Islam Khan, who was the master of the ceremony, and other office bearers of the Markaz for the memorable event. He assured them of the consulate's support in the Markaz's activities for the promotion of Urdu language and literature. Earlier, Muhammad Asif recited verses from the Qur'an, Mohsin Alawi recited a “Hamd,” and Muhammad Nawaz Janjua recited Allama Iqbal's poem.
