RIYADH — Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha welcomed Amazon CEO Andy Jassy and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Executive Vice President Matt Garman at the ministry's headquarters in Riyadh on Tuesday. They discussed strengthening the strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Amazon. The meeting focused on enhancing cloud infrastructure development and leveraging artificial intelligence to foster digital innovation, contributing to the growth of the digital economy and supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. Discussions also explored the latest technological advancements in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, alongside efforts to develop and empower local talent, further cementing Saudi Arabia's leadership in adopting innovative tech solutions. The initiatives aim to position the Kingdom as a key driver of digital economy growth and innovation in the region. Notably, AWS had previously announced at LEAP 2024 an investment of $5.3 billion to establish advanced cloud regions in Saudi Arabia, providing enhanced services to the region through the Kingdom.
