Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah launched the "Med Consult" app at the 4th Global Ministerial Patient Summit here on Saturday. "Med Consult", launched in cooperation with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) and World Health Organization (WHO), is an app for medical consultations via visual media between medical practitioners in less developed countries and consultants all over the world. This helps in enhancing patients' safety and decreasing errors in diagnosis. Director General of the Saudi Center for Patients' Safety and Chairman of the summit's Organizing Committee Dr. Abdelilah Al-Hausawi stressed the necessity to benefit from other sectors like aviation, nuclear energy and oil and gas. The two-day summit is being held under the theme "Universal Health Coverage & Patient Safety". The global event has brought together health ministers from more than 50 countries and patient safety experts. Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Jeremy Hunt were among those who addressed the summit. During this event, efforts will be put together to define strategies that will support the integration of patient safety as an essential element in achieving universal health coverage. This is will be met by raising awareness and fostering contextual applicability, particularly in resource limited settings.
