Hanan Atallah Al-Riyadh Our battle with car accidents is a never-ending one. It is a very dangerous problem that we have to deal with, especially after the Jubail school bus accident where six children were killed. The children were victim to a reckless young boy who was given a car to play. The reckless driver turned the car into a murder weapon and the father was negligent when he decided to give his car to his son who was clearly not grown up. Cars are given to young boys as if they were given a PlayStation. That is why we now have 20 deaths every day on our roads because of accidents. This is a dangerous number. The human and economic damage resulting from road accidents is exhaustive. Losing a precious human life is terrible. I read some sad stories about the pain and suffering of families who have lost their loved ones in the Jubail accident. I thought a lot about the feelings of the teenager who caused that accident. How did he spend his night after the accident? How is he going to live the rest of his life after he caused the death of many innocent children and forced their families to live in pain for the rest of their lives? How did the parents of the teenager who caused the accident spend their day after the accident? They indirectly contributed because they gave their son a deadly weapon that caused the deaths. The families of the victims paid the price. I say that it is about time that we put an end to these continuous accidents. Many people are calling for strict laws and an iron fist that will stand against those who want to turn our streets into death traps. Until when are we going to remain on the sidelines watching this happen? Is there an answer?
