Saudi Arabia's rank in enforcement of contracts jumped 24 positions reaching 59 from 83, according to the latest World Bank annual ratings. The Ease of Doing Business 2019 report attributed the steps taken by the Ministry of Justice over the last two years to this remarkable achievement. One of the most important steps that contributed to raising the Kingdom's ranking in the contract enforcement index was the publication of trade provisions and a raft of decisions taken by the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Judiciary Council to expedite the issuance of verdicts on trade cases as well as to maintain their quality. One of these decisions was taken by Minister of Justice Waleed Al-Samaani by adding a number of articles to the executive regulations of the Legal Procedures, including setting the date for the consideration of commercial cases not later than 20 days from the date of registration of the case.
