MAKKAH — Passport police arrested more than 100 illegal residents after a five-hour campaign in a number of districts in Makkah. In the first operation, officers surrounded Sharie Al-Nakhl where illegal residents were hiding out and arrested three Ethiopians. Another team arrested five Pakistanis holding forged iqamas from the same location. The Pakistanis resisted arrest and escaped into the mountains but the officers were able to apprehend them. The officers arrested 35 people of various nationalities from one building in Al-Sharie neighborhood while 40 illegal residents of Arab and African origin were rounded up in Al-Haj Street. The operation took place after midnight.
