Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the United States Prince Khalid Bin Salman has asked the international community to take necessary action against the Iran-backed Houthi militia for repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement and ensure its full implementation. Prince Khalid, in a series of tweets posted late Wednesday, said that the Stockholm Agreement between Yemeni parties is being violated repeatedly by the Houthis. "The agreement is an important first step for sustainable peace and offers hope for millions of Yemenis," he said. He said that the Coalition led by Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni government has been committed to implementing the agreement. "It takes two sides to make it work, so far, the Iran backed Houthi militia seems determined to uphold the misery and suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people," said Prince Khalid. "The Iran backed militia displayed its contempt for peace by attempting to target a UN convoy, this is a reminder that we are dealing with a lawless militia that does not care about peace or the fate of millions of Yemenis," Prince Khalid said in his tweet. "The Houthis must face increasing international pressure for reneging on their commitments. @OSE_Yemen has worked very hard to reach the Stockholm Agreement, and it must be enforced as it represents the only path forward for a political resolution to the Yemeni crisis," he tweeted. Meanwhile on Thursday, the Yemeni government accused the Houthi militia of failing to abide by the truce. "The legitimate government remains committed to the Sweden accords," state-run Saba news agency quoted Yemeni President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi as saying. Hadi accused Yemen's Houthi militia of failing to respect an agreement on the port city of Hodeida, Saba said. The news comes as reports surface that the UN is looking to replace the head of a monitoring mission to Hodeida. The United Nations' Yemen envoy, Martin Griffiths, met with Hadi in Riyadh on Thursday. — Agencies
