JEDDAH — A 50-year-old man killed his wife's mother and shot himself dead after a shooting rampage in a house in South Jeddah Sunday, the city's police said. The man's wife and her sister were also injured in the incident, which took place inside a two-story house. After the wife and her sister escaped, the man set the place on fire and shot himself. A police spokesman said the man was having problems with his wife and came to the house to talk to her family regarding the divorce case pending in court. When he entered the house, he held the three women hostage and pulled out a gun and shot the old woman first. She was 65 years old. Then he tried to kill his wife and her sister but both fled the scene, although not before sustaining injuries. The wife, 27, was shot in the left hand, while her 23-year-old sister sustained fractures in her left leg. Eyewitnesses said they heard women screaming inside the house and their screams were followed by gunshots. They said the house was then set on fire. Firefighters controlled the fire before it spread through the house. The survivors were rushed to the hospital, according to a Makkah Civil Defense spokesman.
