The man, who shot dead a 24-year-old girl before firing at himself in an apartment on Sitteen Street here Monday, has been declared brain dead. The 30-year-old Saudi was admitted in the ICU at King Fahd Hospital in Jeddah by the police in a critical condition. The police report showed that the man had fired three shots at the girl who died on the spot. Jeddah police spokesman Mesfr Al-Juaid said investigations are going on to ascertain the motive of the crime. Security authorities have sealed off the crime scene, taken fingerprints and questioned the residents of the furnished apartment. An eyewitness said most of the occupants left the building in panic after the crime. He said he saw the murder for the first time in the building. He committed the crime just a day after renting a flat in the building, the eyewitness said. According to information, the victim had accompanied her cousin to the flat of the murderer, who was known to her for years. It is presumed that the three had breakfast together. Then a heated discussion ensued. The shooting took place in the hall. The murder dragged the victim into the room where he covered her with a blanket then he pointed the trigger toward himself. – Okaz __
