Salem Al-Sebaiei Okaz/Saudi Gazette AL-AHSA — King Faisal University (KFU) has dismissed a literature student for filming fellow students without their knowledge. The dismissed student then uploaded the video clip last Wednesday to social networking sites, a local newspaper reported. The video clip featured female students in a university hall with a woman professor. The fathers of students complained to the university and asked for an investigation into the incident. Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Helaibi, KFU spokesman, said it is the university's duty to protect the privacy of students inside the campus. The university ensures that students are committed to moral behavior and respect the rights of others, he said. Al-Helaibi said iPads are allowed into the university but students are warned not to use them in a way that breaks university rules. He regretted the student's behavior and said a committee has been formed to investigate the incident. The committee's efforts with the cooperation of students resulted in identifying the offending student. According to procedures, the case was referred to the university's disciplinary committee which decided to dismiss the student and refer the case to the authorities. The dismissal decision will also mean the student will be barred from applying to any other university in the Kingdom.
